Abby J. Tomlin is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She completed her undergraduate degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations at the University of Texas—Arlington. After a five-year career in public relations and event planning in both the corporate and non-profit worlds, she felt uncertain about her chosen plan and sought counseling to help her discover a more authentic career (and life) path.

Through her counseling experience, Abby discovered the power of the therapeutic relationship and the therapeutic process. Guided by her desire to help others, she enrolled at Texas A&M— Commerce, earning her Masters of Science in Counseling.

She has been in private practice since 2014, and formerly worked at The Family Place, providing group and individual counseling services to victims of domestic and family violence, including women incarcerated in the Dallas County Jail System.

Her clinical background includes a variety of experience with children, adolescents and adults. She also enjoys speaking to outside groups on a variety of therapeutic topics. Past clients include the Salvation Army, Ursuline Academy, Dallas Mavericks, and Hilton Corporation.

Utilizing Person Centered Therapy as her guiding theory, Abby also incorporates other empirically-grounded techniques to support client care. She has special interests in neuroscience, mindfulness, attachment and also follows the principles of providing trauma-informed care.

A member of the American Counseling Association and the Association for Humanistic Counselors, Abby is committed to lifelong learning with the goal of deepening her knowledge and skills in order to best serve her clients. She is also passionate about advocating for and normalizing therapy as a key component in improving societal mental and emotional well-being.

Abby resides in Dallas with her husband and two dogs, Rusty & Lily. Outside of the therapy office, she enjoys reading, Pilates, travel, and time spent with family and friends. She founded Preston Hollow Counseling in 2018.
